Tudor Workshop

Tudor England Survival Guide

Launched in 2013, this is an exciting, interactive morning workshop in line with key National Curriculum objectives.

Elizabethan England is an exciting but dangerous place – if you want to stay healthy, keep out of trouble and move up in Tudor society you are going to need some help!

A rich, finely dressed Tudor lady, Mistress Alice, will spend the morning with your class to help them learn how life was really lived in 16th century England.

How do you survive pox and plague? How do you prosper while managing to keep your head on your shoulders? What you must never, ever say about the Queen – and much more! We cover ALL the following sessions:

  • Crime and Punishment – children re-enact real court cases & learn about terrible Tudor punishments
  • Tudor games & craft activities – children play a popular board game and craft a  souvenir
  • Disease & Medicine – strange illnesses & even stranger cures with visits from the health practitioners of the day
  • Tudor Make-up – how looking good might cost you your life…
  • Banqueting – children experience banqueting with servants, unusual dishes & a court jester!
  • Tudor costume – bringing their day to life with plenty of costume & authentically dressed character
  • Dancing and Entertainment (time permitting)

“Thank you for such a wonderful learning experience. Your enthusiasm and passion for the Tudors shone through. The children and I will remember this for a long time. Excellent range of drama and activities. So much learning, I can’t believe it! I would definitely recommend you and want to work with you again.”

A fabulous day enjoyed by 60 children and staff. Children were excited, engaged and enthused by the tasks provided, immersing them fully in the Tudor period. Andy and Alison are true masters of their craft. Thank you again for such an enjoyable day. Would certainly recommend to other schools and teachers.
